Justin McKay, Australian composer living in California
New Australian Music
Justin McKay was born in Narromine, Australia in 1976. His musical training began at an early age under the direction of his parents. He entered the Sydney Conservatorium of Music at the age of 12, by which time he had composed several short piano works and songs.

He studied piano, composition and classical guitar at the Sydney Conservatorium and subsequently continued his studies at the University of Western Sydney, Nepean. Mr McKay and his wife currently reside in Northern California, with two cats and a dog.

The major works showcased on this recording are Mr McKay's Variations and Fugue on a Theme of Bach, which is based on a delightful theme from one of the cello suites and the Cello Sonata in A Major on which the composer is joined by Jia-Mo Chen. The CD also includes a suite of pieces based around the works of Lewis Carroll and 5 waltzes.

The Australian premier performance of the Lewis Carroll Suite was performed by the distinguished Australian pianist Roger Woodward in Narromine, Justin's birthplace, on Sunday 29th June, 2003.
